Psychoeducational Assessments
Parenting a child with vision loss often feels like constant guesswork when school gets hard. Standard testing can't tell the difference between visual fatigue and a true processing challenge. Families seek out a specialized evaluation to stop guessing and start understanding. We look at how your child's brain actually processes information when vision isn't in the way, pinpointing their true strengths and exact learning needs.
What is the process?
1. Free Initial Consultation
& Initial Intake
We start with a brief, no-cost consultation to discuss your child's needs and confirm that a specialized evaluation is the right fit. Once we decide to move forward, we review your child’s visual and sensory access needs, developmental history, and school experiences to pinpoint the exact questions you want answered.
2. Specialized Testing Sessions
Testing is tailored directly to your child’s pace and stamina, using auditory, tactile, or adapted visual tools suited to their needs across visual impairment, blindness, deafblindness, or CVI. Sessions are kept manageable to prevent fatigue from affecting accuracy. By removing visual testing barriers, we evaluate your child's true cognitive strengths, learning style, executive functioning, and emotional well-being.
3. Parent Feedback Meeting
Before finalizing the report, we meet to walk through the results together in plain language. We explain what the evaluation revealed about how your child's brain processes information, address all of your questions, and ensure you feel confident in the findings.
4. Report & Recommendations
You receive a clear, comprehensive report that highlights your child’s true strengths and learning profile. Clinical findings are translated into practical recommendations ready for IEP or school team meetings, as well as actionable strategies for home. This gives parents and educators an authoritative roadmap so everyone knows exactly how to support your child.
